🚨 Out of the ordinary: a position that you should’t miss 👇
Grammarly is in Berlin, building a hub! They need a Product Manager for natural language understanding to bring a product used daily by 30+ millions of users to the next level. You will research, experiment and ship. Flexible model. I met their TA and they are cool! Go for it or forward to someone. Exciting!

📢 Shoutout
This is a new section which gives attention to people that deserve it. This week it’s Adithya from arbeitnow. We met during the week, and I think you should totally check out his job board which is really cool; it includes a lot of filters & tools, for example a tax calculator.
🗞 Top inspiration snippets
🇩🇪 Berlin & Germany
Matter Labs, Germany-founded Ethereum scaling solution, raised €200M. Careers.
omni:us, Berlin-based insurance claims automators, raised €12M Series A extension. Careers.
JUCR, Berlin-based e-mobility/charging company, raised €32.2M, partially debt. No careers on their page yet?
Sizekick, Munich-based e-commerce sizing solution, raised €1.3M. Careers.
Deepl, Cologne-based translation service, reached unicorn status with €1B valuation. Careers.
Is German job market crashing? Charts and a lengthy discussion on Hacker News. It looks dramatic, but many commenters say it isn’t so. My feeling is that it is getting tighter; I definitely spend more time finding cool jobs.
Enpal, Berlin-based solar panel lease company, is looking for new capital to support it’s growth. (🇩🇪) 2022 will be their first profitable year.
Revolut, neobank with a strong presence in Berlin, hit 25M customers worldwide. Careers.
👾 If you need ideas for your team event… a new arcade center opened in Berlin.
Handelsblatt has an interesting “Stiftung-Warentest” inspired analysis (🇩🇪) of the current position of unicorns with strong presence in Germany. Based on the rating, worst rated are Gorillas (mangelhaft & probably soon acquired by Getir), while they think Flix, Mambu, SumUp, Taxfix, Trade Republic, wefox, Celonis, Commercetools, Personio, Staffbase, Sennder, Grover, Sunfire, Enpal are the best bet for the future (gut or sehr gut). The rest are so-so. Only time will tell.
Consolidation in delivery space is accelerating. Getir will now cooperate with Lieferando, which will also offer 2k+ products from Getir. I do not know, but in general an extremely tough space to turn profit. “So what does this mean long term?” said someone while going to Rewe and Lidl.
Here are some interview red flags by Linkedin. I like the “hiring manager is unprepared for your interview” point, but it also makes me think: how many people do really read CVs? Hands up! 🙋🏻♂️
layoffs.fyi reports: Dance (16% of 220), Amazon (unknown for Berlin).
r/berlin choice of the week is a question where to find good beef, nothing funny this time!
Märkisches Musem (a museum dedicated to Berlin) will close in 2023 for renovation. You can visit for free starting in December. Last chance to see it as it is.
🇪🇺 Rest of Europe & UK (Top 5)
Cohabs, Belgium-based co-living startup, raised €110M. Careers.
BeZero Carbon, London-based carbon credit scorers, raised $50M Series B. Careers.
Red Points, Barcelona-based counterfeiting prevention company, raised $20M. Careers.
WeGitf, UK-based API voucher company, raised £26M. Careers.
Pelico, Paris-based supply chain based company, raised $18.5M. Careers.
🤓 Timeless and useful
If you are buying stuff in Germany, you probably already know idealo. It also makes sense to check geizhals. A Hungarian tiger also told me about dealdoktor and mydealz.
It’s almost as if black Friday is around the corner and you probably do not need anything.
😅 Meanwhile
a month old, but funny
